The Highway 20 bridge crosses the Welland Canal at Allanburg, in Thorold just south of St. Catharines. It's Bridge 11, a vertical-lift bridge from around 1930 that raises its deck for passing ships. In 2001 the laker Windoc was struck by the lowering span here, and the crossing stayed shut for months while it was rebuilt.
